So while the Ford EcoSport is new to us, it's not so new to drivers in South America.

It was launched more than 10 years ago there and went on to sell more than 770,000 units but it's now been revamped by Ford’s engineers in 16 countries to create another of the firm's 'global models'.

One reason for its appearance is that the small SUV sector is growing rapidly - Ford predicts the market will grow by 90% in the next four year's so it's likely to be popular.

Owners of the Ford EcoSport will find a small SUV that is not only practical and stylish but fun to drive as well.

There's a decent amount of kit on board and Ford have added its impressive SYNC system which will allow for the voice control of various smartphone applications.

Standard kit includes features like cruise control, hill start assist, automatic wipers and headlights as well as rear parking sensors.

There's also the Ford SYNC emergency assistance system which will contact the emergency services should the vehicle being involved in an accident. Usefully, the system will call in the local language should the owner be abroad.
